5G Vehicle-to-Everything Services in Cross-Border Environments: Standardization and Challenges

Vehicles will be wirelessly connected in the future, and they able to exchange information with other vehicles their surroundings for safer more efficient driving. 5G communication systems have introduced advanced functionalities radio solutions support connected, cooperative, automated mobility (CCAM) services demanding quality of service requirements. However, interoperability among involved stakeholders, seamless connectivity, uninterrupted delivery real-time across borders are issues that should carefully analyzed realization cross-border CCAM services. This article provides an overview key standardization bodies by analyzing recent work on technologies provide connectivity CCAM. Standardization gaps regulatory barriers may affect fast adoption 5G-enabled also discussed.
